Quantonation raises €220M for quantum and deep-physics fund

Quantonation closes €220 million flagship quantum fund

French venture capital firm Quantonation has raised €220 million for its flagship fund dedicated to quantum technologies and deep-physics startups, underscoring growing investor confidence in next‑generation computing and sensing technologies. The Paris-based firm, one of the first VCs globally to specialize exclusively in quantum, will use the capital to back early-stage companies across Europe and selected international markets.

Specialized focus on quantum and deep-physics

Quantonation focuses on startups building breakthroughs in areas such as quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing, and enabling deep-tech hardware. The new fund aims to support companies from seed to Series B, providing both capital and hands-on support in industrialization, go‑to‑market strategy, and global partnerships.

By concentrating on deep-physics innovation—where advances in fundamental science translate into commercial products—the firm positions itself at the intersection of research labs and industry. This strategy is designed to shorten the path from scientific discovery to scalable business, an area where Europe has traditionally lagged behind the US and Asia.

Strengthening Europe’s quantum ecosystem

The €220 million vehicle will complement public initiatives such as the EU Quantum Flagship and national programs in France, Germany, and other member states. Quantonation plans to co-invest alongside institutional investors, corporate partners, and family offices that are increasingly seeking exposure to frontier technologies.

The fund is expected to back dozens of startups developing applications in sectors including cybersecurity, drug discovery, advanced materials, finance, and industrial automation. With quantum hardware and software maturing, the firm anticipates a wave of commercially viable products over the coming decade.

Global competition for quantum leadership

As the US, China, and the UK accelerate their own quantum investment agendas, the new Quantonation fund is seen as a strategic step in keeping Europe competitive. By anchoring more deep-tech companies on the continent, the firm aims to build a robust industrial base around quantum and related advanced physics, turning scientific excellence into long-term economic value.
