Nul launches UK digital platform to support safer alcohol reduction

Nul debuts clinically supported alcohol reduction platform in the UK

UK-based HealthTech startup Nul has unveiled a new digital platform designed to help adults safely reduce harmful alcohol consumption, combining remote access to clinical care with prescription medication where appropriate.

Positioning itself at the intersection of digital health and addiction care, Nul aims to close the gap between traditional rehabilitation services and everyday primary care. The platform targets people who may not identify as dependent drinkers but are concerned about the impact of alcohol on their health, relationships, or work.

How Nul’s supported reduction model works

The service offers users guided alcohol reduction plans, remote consultations with licensed clinicians, and—when clinically indicated—access to prescription medication commonly used to support reduced drinking. These tools are integrated into a structured program that tracks consumption, mood, sleep, and cravings over time.

Through the app, users can receive tailored advice, evidence-based behavioral strategies, and ongoing monitoring. By pairing medication-assisted treatment with digital coaching, Nul is seeking to make personalised care more accessible than traditional in-person services, which are often limited by long waiting lists and social stigma.

Addressing a growing public health and economic challenge

Public health experts have repeatedly warned about the rising burden of alcohol-related harm on the UK’s healthcare system and wider economy. Many at-risk drinkers never seek formal treatment, either because they do not see themselves as having a severe problem or because they fear judgment.

Nul is building its platform to meet this underserved group, offering a lower-friction path to change while maintaining clinical oversight and safety. By leveraging telemedicine, secure data collection, and structured follow-up, the startup is part of a broader wave of HealthTech companies rethinking how behavioral and addiction care can be delivered.

As digital therapeutics, remote prescribing, and hybrid care models become more mainstream, Nul is positioning its alcohol reduction platform as a scalable tool for employers, insurers, and health systems seeking to reduce alcohol-related risk and improve long-term patient outcomes.
