ISAAC antisismica raises €14 million for seismic safety

Italian startup ISAAC antisismica has closed a €14 million investment round to accelerate the development and deployment of its proprietary active mass damper systems, designed to protect existing buildings from earthquake damage. The funding underscores growing investor confidence in advanced seismic protection technologies as climate risk and aging infrastructure put additional stress on urban areas.

Targeting the vulnerability of existing buildings

Unlike many solutions that focus on new construction, ISAAC antisismica is concentrating on the vast stock of existing residential, commercial and public buildings that often lack modern earthquake-resistant engineering. Its proprietary active mass damper technology is engineered to be retrofitted onto structures, dynamically counteracting seismic vibrations and reducing the likelihood of structural failure.

The company’s systems use a combination of sensors, control electronics and precisely tuned mass dampers to detect building motion in real time and respond with counter-movements. This approach aims to minimize both structural damage and operational downtime after an earthquake, a key consideration for critical facilities such as hospitals, schools and data centers.

Scaling innovation in earthquake-prone regions

The new capital will enable ISAAC antisismica to expand research and development, strengthen its engineering teams and accelerate certification and deployment across highly seismic regions, starting with Italy and Southern Europe. Investment will also support partnerships with construction firms, insurers and public authorities to integrate seismic retrofitting into broader urban resilience strategies.

By combining advanced mechatronics with intelligent control systems, the company aims to offer building owners a cost-effective pathway to upgrade safety without full-scale reconstruction. As regulators and insurers increasingly factor seismic risk into building standards and premiums, technologies like those developed by ISAAC antisismica are likely to play a central role in the next generation of earthquake resilience solutions.
