Wikifarmer secures $7.7M to build AI-powered agrifood hub

Wikifarmer raises $7.7M to modernise global agrifood trade

Greek agritech startup Wikifarmer has raised $7.7 million (€7.1 million) in fresh funding, led by European edtech investor Brighteye Ventures. The company aims to transform the largely offline, document-heavy agrifood supply chain into an AI-driven, digital marketplace.

Digitising an $8 trillion industry still reliant on faxes

The global agrifood market, valued at around $8 trillion, remains fragmented and heavily dependent on phone calls, email threads and even fax machines for cross-border trade. Wikifarmer is building a B2B platform that connects farmers, traders, processors and retailers, replacing manual negotiations with structured, data-rich workflows.

By centralising product specifications, certifications, logistics options and pricing data, the startup wants to reduce errors, increase transparency and help buyers discover new, verified suppliers at scale.

AI-powered matching, forecasting and faster deal cycles

The new capital will be used to strengthen AI algorithms that power product and counterparty matching, as well as demand and price forecasting. The company targets dramatically shorter deal cycles, aiming to bring typical 90-day-plus negotiations down to about 45 days.

Through automated matching, buyers can receive curated offers based on volume, quality, certifications and delivery windows, while sellers gain access to real-time demand signals and pricing intelligence across markets.

Financial integration through FarmClick partnership

Wikifarmer is also deepening its role in the transaction layer via a partnership with FarmClick, a specialised agrifood banking and finance platform. The collaboration is designed to streamline trade finance, insurance and payment terms within the marketplace, reducing risk for both producers and buyers.

By embedding financial services, the startup hopes to unlock working capital for farmers and SMEs that have historically struggled to access credit, while giving institutional buyers greater confidence in cross-border procurement.

Positioning as a digital operating system for agrifood

With this funding round, Wikifarmer is positioning itself as a digital operating system for the agrifood trade, uniting marketplace functionality, data analytics and embedded finance. As climate volatility, regulatory scrutiny and cost pressures reshape food supply chains, the company is betting that a modern, AI-enabled infrastructure will become indispensable for global buyers and producers alike.
