TerraSpark secures over €5M to advance orbital solar power

Clean-energy startup TerraSpark has raised more than €5 million from a group of prominent backers, including venture firm daphni and investor Sake Bosch, to accelerate the development of space-based solar power systems. The company plans to begin with groundbreaking wireless energy transmission demonstrations on Earth before expanding its technology into orbit.

Building the foundations of space-based clean energy

TerraSpark is working on a next-generation infrastructure concept in which large solar arrays in space capture continuous sunlight and beam energy wirelessly to receivers on the ground. Unlike terrestrial solar farms, space-based solar power can operate around the clock, unaffected by weather or night-time conditions.

The newly raised capital will be used to refine wireless power transfer hardware, validate key components under real-world constraints, and run pilot projects that showcase safe, efficient transmission of clean electricity over distance. These terrestrial demonstrations are designed to derisk the technology before the company moves toward orbital deployment.

Investor confidence in frontier energy innovation

Backing from funds such as daphni and experienced investor Sake Bosch signals growing confidence in deep-tech solutions aimed at reshaping the global energy transition. Investors are betting that breakthroughs in power beaming, high-efficiency solar arrays and energy infrastructure can open a new category of renewable generation beyond Earth’s surface.

From Earth-based demos to orbital systems

In the near term, TerraSpark will focus on proving that its wireless energy technology can deliver meaningful power levels safely and reliably across test sites on Earth. Success in these trials would pave the way for future missions that place solar-harvesting platforms in orbit and connect them to ground stations worldwide.

As governments and utilities search for scalable, low-carbon solutions, space-based solar power is emerging as a bold, long-horizon option. With this new funding round, TerraSpark positions itself among the early leaders pursuing a future in which clean electricity can be harvested in space and delivered wherever it is needed on the planet.
