Researchers using a quantum sensing platform in a biomedical lab for cancer and sepsis studies

QT Sense secures €4M to advance quantum platform for disease research

QT Sense lands €4 million to push quantum frontiers in medicine

Netherlands-based startup QT Sense has raised €4 million to accelerate the development of its quantum sensing platform designed to support research into complex diseases such as cancer, sepsis and arthritis. The funding will be used to scale its technology, expand scientific collaborations and move towards early commercial deployments in the biomedical sector.

Harnessing quantum sensing for biology

Quantum sensing applies the principles of quantum physics to measure biological and chemical processes with extreme precision. QT Sense is building a platform that can detect minute changes in cells, tissues and microenvironments, giving researchers new ways to observe how diseases emerge, progress and respond to treatment.

By leveraging quantum sensors, the company aims to capture signals that are often invisible to conventional imaging and diagnostic tools. This level of sensitivity could enable earlier detection of disease markers, more accurate monitoring of immune responses and deeper understanding of how therapies behave at the molecular level.

Focus on cancer, sepsis and arthritis

The initial application areas for the platform are three major global health burdens. In cancer research, the technology is expected to help track how tumor cells interact with their surroundings and how they respond to targeted therapies. For sepsis, where rapid diagnosis is critical, high-resolution quantum measurements could support faster identification of systemic inflammation and organ stress. In arthritis, the platform may shed light on the micro-scale mechanisms of joint damage and chronic inflammation.

Building a bridge between deep tech and clinics

With the new €4 million round, QT Sense plans to strengthen its team of physicists, biologists and data scientists, and to deepen partnerships with hospitals and research institutes. The company is positioning its platform as an enabling technology that can be integrated into existing biomedical research workflows, providing richer datasets for drug discovery, biomarker development and next-generation diagnostics.

As quantum technologies mature, players like QT Sense are racing to translate laboratory breakthroughs into tools that can be used by clinicians and life science companies. The fresh capital is expected to shorten the path from prototype to practical research instrument, potentially reshaping how scientists investigate some of the world’s most challenging diseases.
