Sales and ERP automation software interface for distribution companies on a laptop in a modern German office

Plato raises €12.2M to automate sales and ERP for distributors

Plato secures fresh capital to modernize distribution

German software startup Plato has raised €12.2 million in new funding to automate sales and ERP workflows for distributors, targeting one of the most fragmented and legacy-driven segments of global commerce. With the motto “From Germany, for the world,” the company is positioning itself as a core infrastructure layer for modern distribution businesses.

Automating sales and ERP in a legacy industry

Distributors across Europe and beyond still rely heavily on manual processes, disconnected tools and outdated enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Plato offers a cloud-based platform that unifies sales automation, pricing, inventory, and order management, integrating directly with existing ERP software.

By centralising data and automating repetitive workflows, the platform aims to reduce errors, shorten order cycles and give sales teams real-time visibility into stock, margins and customer terms. For mid-sized distributors, which often lack in-house IT resources, Plato is pitching itself as a plug-and-play alternative to costly custom development.

Scaling from Germany to international markets

The new €12.2 million round will be used to expand product development, strengthen integrations with major ERP systems, and accelerate go-to-market efforts across Europe. The company plans to invest in local sales and customer success teams to support distributors in sectors such as industrial components, building materials and technical wholesale.

Industry observers note that distribution remains one of the last large B2B verticals to undergo full digital transformation. With rising cost pressures, labour shortages and increasingly complex supply chains, demand for robust workflow automation and data-driven decision-making is growing rapidly.

Strategic significance for B2B digitisation

By targeting the intersection of sales operations and ERP, Plato is entering a space historically dominated by large software vendors and bespoke systems integrators. The startup’s vertical focus on distribution could enable faster deployments and industry-specific features that generic tools struggle to deliver.

For European distributors facing global competition and tighter margins, platforms like Plato promise not only operational efficiency but also a path to more data-driven, resilient business models.
