Philipp Heltewig charts the next chapter of enterprise AI

This week’s EU-Startups podcast spotlights Philipp Heltewig, the newly appointed Chief AI Officer at NiCE and General Manager of NiCE Cognigy, a fast-growing player in the enterprise AI and conversational automation space. Heltewig, a seasoned founder and product leader, now oversees how the company brings advanced AI platforms to large organizations seeking secure, scalable automation.

From startup founder to driving enterprise AI strategy

Before joining NiCE, Philipp Heltewig co-founded Cognigy, a platform known for enabling enterprises to build intelligent virtual agents that integrate with complex back-end systems. As General Manager of NiCE Cognigy, he is tasked with aligning that technology with the broader NiCE portfolio and accelerating global go-to-market efforts.

On the podcast, Heltewig discusses how enterprises are moving beyond simple chatbots toward deeply integrated AI assistants that understand context, support multiple languages, and operate across channels such as web, mobile, and contact centers. He emphasizes that robust data governance, clear AI safety policies, and measurable ROI are now non‑negotiable for large customers.

Balancing innovation with compliance and trust

Heltewig highlights a growing demand for AI solutions that comply with strict data protection and sector-specific regulations. NiCE Cognigy is positioning its platform as a secure layer that lets enterprises harness large language models while keeping sensitive information under control.

He notes that the next wave of enterprise AI adoption will be driven by tangible business outcomes: reduced support costs, faster resolution times, and improved customer satisfaction. According to Heltewig, organizations that combine strong AI governance with a clear automation strategy will be best placed to capture value from the current boom in generative AI and conversational interfaces.

As NiCE integrates Cognigy more deeply into its product stack, Heltewig’s role signals a broader shift: established technology providers are betting that specialized, enterprise-grade AI platforms will become core infrastructure for customer and employee experiences worldwide.
