Nesto raises €11M to boost AI workforce tools for hotels

Nesto lands fresh capital to modernise hospitality staffing

German startup Nesto has raised €11 million to accelerate the rollout of its AI workforce management platform, targeting hotels, restaurants and other hospitality businesses struggling with staff shortages and volatile demand.

The new funding round will enable Nesto to deepen product development, expand its engineering and go-to-market teams, and push into additional European markets where labour-intensive hospitality operations are under pressure to digitise.

AI-driven scheduling for a sector under strain

Nesto offers an integrated platform that uses AI algorithms and real-time data to automate shift planning, forecast staffing needs and optimise labour costs. By pulling in booking data, historical occupancy, seasonal patterns and employee availability, the system proposes schedules designed to match guest demand while respecting labour regulations and employee preferences.

For hotel and restaurant operators, the platform aims to replace fragmented spreadsheets and manual rota systems with a single source of truth. Managers can oversee multiple locations, adjust staffing in response to live demand signals and communicate changes instantly to frontline teams via mobile apps.

Addressing labour shortages and rising costs

The hospitality industry across Europe continues to grapple with acute labour shortages and rising wage costs. Many operators are forced to operate with lean teams while maintaining service quality and guest satisfaction. Nesto positions its technology as a way to reduce overtime, cut administrative workload and improve employee retention through more predictable and transparent scheduling.

By focusing specifically on hospitality rather than generic workforce tools, Nesto aims to capture a growing niche where domain-specific features – such as multi-property management, varying peak hours and complex role hierarchies – are critical. The fresh €11 million injection gives the company additional firepower to scale its platform and compete with larger horizontal workforce software providers.

As hotels and restaurants continue their post-pandemic recovery, demand for smart, data-driven staffing solutions is expected to increase, positioning Nesto as a notable player in the digital transformation of Europe’s hospitality sector.
