FLEXOO raises €11 million to industrialize ‘physical AI’

German robotics startup FLEXOO, whose technology is integrated into NASA’s next-generation lunar rover program, has closed a new €11 million funding round to scale its pioneering physical AI platform. The fresh capital will be used to accelerate product development, grow its engineering team and expand commercial deployments in advanced manufacturing and space-related applications.

From space-grade robotics to factory floors

FLEXOO develops modular robotic systems that combine AI algorithms, advanced sensor fusion and adaptive mechatronics. Originally engineered to meet the extreme reliability and autonomy requirements of lunar rover missions, the company’s technology is now being repurposed for high-value industrial use cases on Earth.

The startup’s core platform enables robots to understand and respond to their physical environment in real time, a capability the company describes as physical AI. This allows robotic arms and mobile systems to handle unstructured tasks such as precision assembly, inspection and maintenance, where traditional pre-programmed automation typically fails.

Funding to scale commercial adoption

The €11 million round will support the rollout of pilot projects with manufacturers in sectors including aerospace, automotive and advanced materials. FLEXOO plans to invest heavily in its software stack, focusing on simulation, remote monitoring and data-driven optimization to make deployment faster and more cost-effective for industrial clients.

By leveraging technology validated in the harsh conditions of space, the company aims to offer a new class of robust, adaptable robots for factories seeking higher productivity and resilience. Industry observers see physical AI as a bridge between traditional industrial automation and the emerging wave of autonomous, learning-based machines.

Positioning Germany as a deep-tech robotics hub

The funding underscores Germany’s growing role in deep-tech and robotics innovation. With global manufacturers under pressure to counter labor shortages and increase efficiency, solutions like FLEXOO’s are expected to play a central role in the next decade of industrial transformation.
