Eternal.ag secures €8M to automate greenhouse operations

German agri-robotics startup eternal.ag has raised €8 million to accelerate its vision of the fully automated greenhouse. The fresh capital will be used to scale its fleet of autonomous robots, expand engineering and commercial teams, and deepen partnerships with commercial growers across Europe.

Positioned at the intersection of robotics, computer vision and controlled-environment agriculture, eternal.ag develops systems that can handle repetitive, labor‑intensive tasks inside greenhouses. These include seeding, planting, crop monitoring, targeted irrigation and harvesting, all coordinated through a central AI-driven control platform.

Tackling labor shortages and climate pressure

Greenhouse operators across Europe are struggling with chronic labor shortages, rising energy costs and the need to reduce water and chemical use. By automating core workflows, eternal.ag aims to cut operational costs while making year‑round production more predictable.

The startup’s robots navigate greenhouse rows using sensor fusion and machine learning, identifying plant health issues early and applying water or nutrients with high precision. This data-rich approach is designed to help growers increase yields, reduce waste and meet tightening sustainability and food safety requirements.

From pilot projects to scalable platforms

Commercial rollout and product roadmap

With the new funding, eternal.ag plans to move beyond pilot installations and offer a standardized automation platform for medium and large‑scale greenhouses. The company is expected to invest in modular hardware that can be retrofitted into existing facilities, lowering adoption barriers for growers who cannot afford full infrastructure overhauls.

On the software side, the startup is developing advanced farm management analytics, giving operators real‑time dashboards on crop performance, resource consumption and predictive maintenance for robotic systems. This combination of physical automation and digital insights is intended to position eternal.ag as a key player in Europe’s emerging AgriTech and smart farming ecosystem.

As climate volatility and urbanization reshape global food supply chains, fully automated greenhouses powered by AI and robotics are increasingly seen as a critical piece of resilient, local food production. The €8 million investment signals growing investor confidence that technologies like those developed by eternal.ag are moving from experimental to essential.
