Eternal.ag emerges from stealth with fresh capital
Cologne-based agritech startup Eternal.ag has exited stealth mode after securing a €8 million funding round to automate greenhouse harvesting with AI-powered robots. The new capital will be used to scale its technology, expand pilot projects with commercial growers, and hire additional engineering and operations talent.
Positioned at the intersection of robotics, computer vision and controlled-environment agriculture, Eternal.ag aims to tackle chronic labour shortages and rising costs in greenhouse farming across Europe.
AI-driven robots to pick crops around the clock
The company is developing autonomous harvesting units designed to navigate complex greenhouse layouts, identify ripe produce and pick it with minimal damage. Using advanced AI algorithms and high-resolution machine vision systems, the robots can distinguish between healthy and damaged fruits, assess ripeness and adapt to different crop varieties.
According to the startup, its platform integrates with existing greenhouse infrastructure, enabling growers to deploy robots without major structural changes. The solution is designed for continuous 24/7 operation, promising more predictable yields and reduced waste compared to fully manual harvesting.
Addressing labour shortages and efficiency pressures
Across Europe, greenhouse operators are grappling with a shrinking seasonal workforce and increasing wage pressures. Eternal.ag positions its technology as a way to stabilize production and protect margins while maintaining high quality standards.
The company’s robots collect detailed data on plant health, yield patterns and environmental conditions, feeding into a broader data analytics layer. This allows growers to optimize irrigation, nutrition and crop planning, turning harvesting from a purely manual task into a data-rich process.
Scaling across European greenhouses
With the new €8 million injection, Eternal.ag plans to deepen collaborations with leading greenhouse operators in Germany, the Netherlands and other key horticulture hubs. The startup is also investing in robust remote support and maintenance capabilities to ensure commercial reliability at scale.
As climate volatility and labour constraints reshape agriculture, investors are betting that AI-driven automation will become a core component of modern greenhouse operations. Eternal.ag now aims to be one of the first movers defining that new standard.
