ElevenLabs hits $11B valuation with Sequoia-led mega round

Voice artificial intelligence startup ElevenLabs has tripled its valuation to approximately $11 billion after securing a new $500 million funding round led by top-tier venture firm Sequoia. The deal cements the company’s status as one of the most highly valued players in the rapidly expanding generative AI and synthetic voice market.

The fresh capital marks a sharp step up from the company’s previous valuation and reflects investor conviction that realistic, programmable speech will be a core layer of the next wave of AI applications, from media production and gaming to customer service and assistive technologies.

Racing to dominate the synthetic voice market

ElevenLabs, known for its advanced text-to-speech and voice cloning tools, has quickly become a default choice for creators and developers seeking natural-sounding, multilingual audio. Its platform allows users to generate lifelike speech in multiple accents and languages, and to build custom voices tailored to specific brands, characters, or accessibility needs.

With the new funding, the company is expected to accelerate product development, expand its AI infrastructure, and scale go‑to‑market efforts with enterprise customers in media, entertainment, education, and contact centers. The round also strengthens its ability to compete with large technology platforms building their own voice AI stacks.

Focus on safety, regulation and enterprise adoption

The rapid rise of synthetic media has raised concerns about misuse, from deepfake audio to disinformation. Investors backing ElevenLabs are increasingly emphasizing the importance of robust content moderation, watermarking, and clear consent mechanisms for voice cloning.

Analysts expect the company to invest part of the $500 million in strengthening its trust and safety systems and in working with regulators on emerging standards for AI-generated content. At the same time, large enterprises are pushing for compliant, high‑quality voice solutions to localize content, automate support, and create new interactive experiences.

The new round led by Sequoia underscores how strategic investors see voice AI as a foundational technology layer, with ElevenLabs now positioned as one of the category’s defining companies.
