Consio AI raises $3.3M to supercharge ecommerce voice sales

Consio AI secures $3.3M to reinvent ecommerce phone sales

Consio AI, a new startup founded by former leaders of customer support platform Gorgias, has raised $3.3 million in funding to build advanced AI voice agents designed to close high-value ecommerce sales over the phone. The round is led by global venture firm RTP Global, underscoring growing investor conviction that intelligent voice automation will become a core layer of online retail.

The company reports a striking 10x revenue growth since launch, driven by strong demand from ecommerce brands looking to convert more customers on expensive, complex purchases where human-like phone interactions still matter.

From customer support to revenue engine

The founding team behind Consio AI previously helped scale Gorgias, a widely used ecommerce helpdesk platform. At Gorgias, they saw first-hand how brands struggled to turn support conversations into revenue, especially on higher-ticket products that required explanation, reassurance, or configuration help.

That experience shaped their new mission: move beyond traditional support and build AI voice agents that actively sell, not just answer questions.

Why phone still matters in ecommerce

Despite the dominance of online checkout flows, phone calls remain critical for categories such as luxury goods, furniture, electronics, subscription services, and B2B purchases. These transactions often involve complex product comparisons, financing questions, or customization options that are difficult to address through static pages or simple chat widgets.

Brands also face a familiar bottleneck: hiring and training enough sales representatives to handle inbound calls efficiently, across time zones, without sacrificing quality. That is the gap Consio AI aims to fill with automated yet natural-sounding AI voice agents that can operate 24/7.

How Consio AI’s voice agents work

Consio AI is building a stack that combines speech recognition, natural language understanding, and AI-driven sales playbooks tailored to each brand. Rather than generic voice bots, the system is designed to function as a trained sales associate with deep knowledge of a specific product catalog.

Key capabilities

  • Real-time conversation handling: The AI can understand customer questions, objections, and preferences in real time, responding with human-like pacing and tone.
  • Product catalog integration: Direct integration with ecommerce platforms allows the agent to pull live product data, pricing, stock levels, and promotions.
  • Guided selling: The system uses AI algorithms to recommend products based on needs, budget, and previous behavior, similar to a knowledgeable in-store associate.
  • Checkout assistance: For high-ticket items, the agent can walk customers through payment options, warranties, and add-ons, helping reduce cart abandonment.
  • CRM and helpdesk sync: Integrations with tools like Gorgias and other CRM platforms ensure call outcomes, notes, and follow-ups are logged automatically.

By combining these capabilities, Consio AI positions its product not as a simple call center automation tool, but as a direct revenue-generation engine for ecommerce brands.

Targeting high-ticket and complex ecommerce sales

The company is specifically focused on high-ticket phone conversions—situations where a single call can be worth hundreds or thousands of dollars in revenue. These include categories such as premium home goods, fitness equipment, professional tools, and specialized electronics, where customers typically seek reassurance before committing.

In these segments, a well-timed, well-handled conversation can dramatically improve conversion rates. By using AI voice agents, brands can scale these conversations without proportionally scaling headcount.

From cost center to profit center

Traditional call centers are often treated as a cost center, focused on reducing handle time and ticket volume. Consio AI flips that logic, positioning voice interactions as a measurable sales channel. The platform can track metrics such as conversion rate, average order value, and upsell performance across AI-handled calls, giving ecommerce leaders a granular view of return on investment.

Backed by RTP Global and early traction

The $3.3 million funding round, led by RTP Global, provides capital to expand engineering, product, and go-to-market teams. RTP Global, known for backing high-growth technology companies, is betting that AI-driven automation will reshape how consumers interact with online brands over voice channels.

According to the company, early customers have already helped drive a reported 10x revenue growth, signaling strong market pull. While detailed customer names have not been disclosed, the profile points to fast-scaling ecommerce brands that are comfortable adopting AI technologies to gain a competitive edge.

Positioning in the broader AI and ecommerce landscape

The rise of generative AI and advanced speech technologies has sparked a new wave of innovation in customer interaction tools. From chat-based assistants to automated email agents, brands are rapidly experimenting with ways to improve efficiency and personalization.

Consio AI differentiates itself by focusing squarely on voice commerce for revenue, rather than general support. This niche aligns with several macro trends:

  • Growing consumer comfort with speaking to AI assistants on phones and smart devices.
  • Rising acquisition costs pushing brands to squeeze more value from every lead and call.
  • Labor shortages and rising wages in customer service and inside sales roles.

By concentrating on high-value interactions, the startup aims to avoid the common pitfall of becoming a low-margin, generic automation tool.

Challenges and opportunities ahead

Despite the momentum, the path is not without challenges. Maintaining natural, trustworthy conversations in complex sales scenarios is significantly harder than handling simple FAQ-style calls. Brands will expect AI voice agents to respect compliance rules, accurately represent policies, and protect customer data.

Trust will be a central factor: customers must feel comfortable making sizeable purchases after speaking with an AI. That places pressure on Consio AI to invest heavily in conversation design, security, and quality assurance, while also giving merchants fine-grained control over scripts, guardrails, and escalation paths to human agents.

For now, the combination of an experienced founding team, clear focus on high-ticket ecommerce sales, and backing from RTP Global positions Consio AI as a notable player in the emerging market for AI-powered revenue operations. As more retailers look to blend digital convenience with human-style guidance, intelligent voice agents may become a standard part of the ecommerce sales stack.
