Sona raises $45M Series B to modernise frontline workforce

Sona secures $45M to transform frontline workforce management

London-based startup Sona has raised $45 million in a Series B funding round, strengthening its position in the fast-growing market for modern workforce management tools for frontline employees. The new capital will be used to accelerate product development, expand into new markets and deepen its presence across sectors such as healthcare, hospitality, social care and retail.

Building a modern platform for frontline staff

Sona offers a cloud-based platform that helps organisations manage shift scheduling, time and attendance, staff communications and workforce analytics. While many employers have invested heavily in tools for office-based staff, frontline workers often remain dependent on outdated systems, paper rotas or fragmented apps.

By consolidating these processes into a single interface, Sona aims to reduce administrative overheads, cut staffing costs and improve employee engagement. Managers can optimise staffing levels in real time, while workers gain more control over their shifts, availability and internal communication.

Series B to drive international growth

The Series B funding, led by institutional investors focused on high-growth enterprise software and HR technology, will allow Sona to scale its go-to-market teams and extend its product roadmap. Priority areas include more advanced workforce forecasting, integrations with existing HR and payroll systems, and enhanced mobile experiences tailored to frontline workers.

Riding the digitalisation wave in frontline industries

Organisations employing large frontline workforces are under pressure to improve efficiency amid rising labour costs, tightening regulation and ongoing staff shortages. This is driving rapid adoption of intelligent workforce management software that can automate routine tasks and provide better visibility over staffing needs.

With this new capital injection, Sona is positioned to compete more aggressively with established players in the workforce tech space, offering a platform designed from the ground up for the realities of frontline work. The company’s London base provides access to major European markets, while the size of the funding round signals strong investor confidence in long-term demand for digital tools that support essential workers.
