Founders of Manifold discussing strategies to manage risks in agentic AI systems in a modern office setting

Manifold founders raise $8M to curb risks in agentic AI

Ex-Laiyer AI team launches Manifold with $8M seed round

The founding team behind former AI startup Laiyer AI has returned to the spotlight with a new venture, Manifold, securing an $8 million seed round to tackle emerging risks in so‑called agentic AI systems. The funding will be used to develop infrastructure that helps enterprises deploy autonomous AI agents with stronger safeguards, monitoring and governance.

Targeting the risks of autonomous AI agents

Agentic AI refers to AI systems that can independently plan, take actions and interact with other software or services to achieve goals. While these capabilities promise major productivity gains, they also introduce new concerns around security, compliance, data privacy and unintended behavior.

Manifold aims to provide a control layer for these advanced systems. Its platform is expected to offer tools for policy enforcement, real‑time risk monitoring, audit logging and guardrails that constrain what AI agents can do in production environments. By giving technical and compliance teams a shared view of how agents behave, the startup wants to make it easier for large organisations to adopt autonomous AI without breaching internal or regulatory rules.

Enterprise-grade safety and compliance focus

The company is positioning itself squarely in the enterprise market, where concerns over regulatory compliance, model governance and AI safety are growing as fast as experimentation with generative tools. Early customers are expected to include financial services, healthcare and other highly regulated sectors that must demonstrate control over automated decision‑making.

Beyond basic monitoring, Manifold is working on features such as configurable access controls, integration with existing security operations stacks and detailed compliance reporting. These capabilities are designed to help organisations document how their AI agents operate, which data they access and how they respond to different scenarios.

Rising demand for AI governance infrastructure

As companies move from pilots to large‑scale deployments of generative AI and autonomous agents, demand for specialised AI governance and risk management tools is accelerating. Investors are betting that platforms like Manifold, built by founders with prior experience in the sector, will become critical infrastructure for safely scaling the next wave of AI applications.
