Frankenburg Secures €30M to Scale European Missile Production
European defence startup Frankenburg has raised €30 million to accelerate the development of a scalable missile manufacturing platform, positioning itself at the center of Europe’s efforts to rebuild and modernize its defence industrial base.
The fresh capital will be used to expand production capacity, invest in advanced automation and systems engineering, and deepen partnerships with European governments and defence contractors. The funding round reflects growing concern among policymakers that Europe’s current defence supply chains and munition stockpiles are insufficient for a prolonged high-intensity conflict.
A Strategic Reset for Europe’s Defence Industry
Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and rising geopolitical tensions have exposed structural weaknesses in Europe’s defence manufacturing ecosystem. Many plants still operate on legacy processes designed for peacetime procurement cycles, not for rapid, scalable production of missiles and other precision-guided munitions.
Frankenburg aims to change this by building a modular, software-driven production architecture that can be ramped up quickly as demand increases. By standardizing components, digitizing quality control and integrating AI-driven planning tools, the company seeks to cut lead times and reduce dependency on fragile global supply chains.
Bridging the Gap Between Startups and Defence Ministries
The €30 million round underscores a broader shift: European governments are increasingly turning to agile startups to complement established defence primes. Frankenburg intends to position itself as a flexible partner to ministries of defence, NATO-aligned forces and large contractors that need reliable, surge-ready capacity.
Industry analysts note that the race to secure ammunition and missile supplies is no longer only about technology, but also about industrial resilience. With this funding, Frankenburg is betting that Europe’s long-term security will depend on a new generation of defence manufacturers built for scale, speed and interoperability.
As governments across the continent boost defence spending, the company’s ability to deliver high-volume, high-precision missile systems could make it a pivotal player in Europe’s evolving security landscape.
