Tangled secures $4.5M to reimagine code collaboration
Finland-based startup Tangled, a next-generation code collaboration platform for software teams, has raised a fresh $4.5 million funding round. The investment is led by Nordic venture firm byFounders, signalling growing investor confidence in tools that modernize how developers review and ship code.
A new approach to code reviews
Tangled positions itself as an alternative to traditional pull request workflows that dominate platforms like GitHub and GitLab. The company is building an experience designed to reduce friction in code review, improve context sharing, and shorten feedback cycles for distributed engineering teams.
Instead of treating reviews as a linear gatekeeping step, Tangled aims to create a more conversational and continuous process. The platform focuses on real-time collaboration, richer code annotations, and better visibility into the decision history behind changes, helping teams maintain both velocity and quality.
Backing from byFounders and Nordic investors
The $4.5 million round, led by byFounders, will be used to scale product development, expand the engineering team, and accelerate go-to-market efforts in Europe and North America. The participation of a leading Nordic fund underscores the region’s strength in developer tooling and SaaS innovation.
With software organizations under pressure to ship features faster while maintaining security and reliability, investors see significant upside in platforms that streamline developer productivity. Tangled is targeting engineering-led companies that rely on distributed teams and complex codebases, where inefficient reviews can quickly become a bottleneck.
Rising competition in developer tools
The market for developer tools and DevOps platforms is increasingly competitive, with incumbents adding AI-assisted reviews, automated testing, and workflow orchestration. Tangled is betting that a collaboration-first design, tightly integrated with existing version control systems, will differentiate it from traditional repositories and issue trackers.
As remote and hybrid work models become standard in software engineering, tools that make asynchronous collaboration feel more natural are gaining traction. The new funding gives Tangled runway to refine its product, deepen integrations with popular developer ecosystems, and position itself as a core layer in the modern software delivery stack.
