Cernel raises €4 million to transform e-commerce data management
Aarhus-based tech startup Cernel has announced a €4 million seed funding round to accelerate the development of its AI-driven platform for intelligent e-commerce data management. The company aims to help online retailers and brands clean, structure and activate their product and customer data at scale.
An AI-first approach to messy e-commerce data
The core of Cernel‘s product is a proprietary engine that uses advanced machine learning and AI algorithms to standardize, enrich and synchronize data across multiple sales channels. Modern e-commerce operations often struggle with fragmented product information, inconsistent catalog data and manual workflows that slow down merchandising and marketing teams.
By automating data mapping, attribute normalization and content enhancement, Cernel seeks to reduce operational costs and increase conversion rates for merchants. The platform is designed to integrate with major e-commerce platforms, marketplaces and marketing automation tools, giving retailers a single source of truth for their digital product content.
Scaling product, engineering and international reach
The new €4 million seed round will be used to expand Cernel‘s engineering and data science teams, strengthen its AI infrastructure and deepen integrations with leading commerce ecosystems. A portion of the capital is also earmarked for go-to-market activities, including partnerships with agencies and SaaS providers serving mid-market and enterprise merchants.
The Aarhus-based startup is positioning itself within the fast-growing category of retail technology and data orchestration. As brands sell across their own webshops, marketplaces and social commerce channels, demand is rising for tools that can keep product data consistent, compliant and optimized for each surface.
Nordic tech hub strengthens its AI commerce footprint
The funding underscores Denmark’s emergence as a hub for AI and commerce technology. With fresh capital and a sharpened focus on product innovation, Cernel is preparing to expand beyond the Nordics and target e-commerce players across Europe that are seeking more intelligent ways to manage and monetize their data.
